Gentrification looms; Skyzoo’s hood hangs on like a pair of shoes on a telephone wire. “Time is money”, Skyzoo recalls his pops mentioning. Not wasting any of it the Brooklyn emcee hastily peddles dope rhymes with unbridled ambition as he marches to the beat of Apollo Brown’s drums and piano loop. The sampled instrumental crackles and pops like a vintage vinyl record. The gritty melody resembles the fractured pavement Skyzoo sidesteps from the inevitable upon. Between a crack in the concrete blooms a bruised and battered rose. Standing still to ponder at the rarity Skyzoo comes to a realization; the rose and his misguided journey are “One In The Same”.
